Learning Through Play
Fall 2025
Research, Design
IDEA 210 helped me better understand how games can make learning feel accessible, collaborative, and fun. By focusing on tabletop formats, the course encouraged us to think closely about what makes games clear, inclusive, and engaging, while also showing how playful activities and discussion can make education feel more active and inviting. For our final project, I worked with two peers to create a tabletop card game inspired by Spaceteam that introduced nutrition concepts in a simple and digestible way. I contributed research, helped shape the design goals that guided our team, and worked on the rulebook, presentation, and teacher guide to make the project feel accessible in a classroom setting. Overall, this course expanded the way I think about educational design and reminded me that learning can be most impactful when it feels playful, thoughtful, and shared.
